SUMMARY:Bonegilla
LOCATION:Albury Entertainment Centre\, 525 Swift Street\, Albury NSW 2640
GEO:-36.0790447;146.9169481
DESCRIPTION:By Simon Reich Featuring the Moodemere String Quartet Please be
aware Strobe Effects & Haze may be used in the performance Depictions of
war Suitable for ages 16yrs+ "Bonegilla-The migrant's journey" has sold ou
t venues across Australia and this is the highly anticipated sequel\, enti
tled "Bonegilla-Their life in a suitcase". The show uses interviews with p
ost-war migrants that passed through the Bonegilla migrant camp. "Bonegill
a-Their life in a suitcase" is a multimedia performance and features first
hand interviews with people from various European countries. These stories
are displayed on multiple screens along with migrants' own photographs an
d videos. Immersive sound design compliments the touching stories with a s
tring quartet and grand piano live on stage playing the musical soundtrack
for the duration. This show is nothing like a dry and dusty history lesso
 n. The migrants tell of their war experiences\, why they wanted to travel
to the other side of the world and how they fared in their newly adopted c
ountry. At times it’s tragic\, disheartening and racist\, but ultimately
\, it’s a feel-good story of gutsy and inspirational people who created
the backbone of Australian society. You'll laugh. You'll cry. But most of
all you'll be truly inspired by these gutsy pioneers to a country they kne
w nothing about. The Albury Entertainment Centre acknowledges the Wiradjur
i people as the traditional custodians of the land in which we live and wo
rk and we pay our respects to Elders past\, present and future for they ho
ld the memories\, culture\, tradition and hopes of Aboriginal and Torres S
trait Islander people that contribute to our community.\n\nDetails: https:
